The delegate of the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH), Blanca Jimenez Padilla and Rodolfo Lobato Rodriguez researcher reported the existence of 32 species of cacti, cactus-better known as endemic in the archaeological Xihuacan in the town of La Soledad de Maciel.

Meanwhile, the archaeologist Rodolfo Lobato Rodriguez reported that 32 endemic species have been recorded in the La Soledad de Maciel, which are already selected and some are under the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT).

Jimenez Padilla said he has been through the support of the locals that researchers have had knowledge of the uses of plants and cacti from the archaeological site of La Soledad de Maciel.
Lobato Rodriguez noted that herbal medicine has been used since pre-Hispanic times, "somehow, we know it, a heritage, intangible cultural heritage."
He added that the use of herbal medicine is so common that often has not considered the cultural heritage means.
